Asheboro High School’s growing student body could not be accommodated safely and effectively with their existing space. Smith Sinnett worked with school and county officials to develop a program for a 38,000 sf, two-story addition, as well as a phased renovation/repair to the existing building. The new portion of the high school incorporates STEAM program classrooms, computer labs, a virtual classroom, science, math, and art classrooms and open, inviting gathering areas for independent and group study. In addition, the building includes expanded band areas to foster the growth of the performing arts program, and outdoor courtyard spaces for group project collaboration.
