Forsyth Tech Strickland Renovation: Modernizing Campus for Learning and Support
The Forsyth Tech Strickland Building Renovation redefined 70,000 SF of interior space to transform the main campus into a state-of-the-art learning hub. This ambitious project introduced a modern entry lobby, cutting-edge nursing, birthing, and medication labs, and a dynamic wellness center. It also revitalized the campus bookstore, enhancing both the student experience and academic excellence.
Additionally, the renovation introduced computer and tutoring labs, administrative and cashier offices, and mentoring centers for veterans, women, and minorities. The plan also added new restrooms, a testing center, a chemistry lab, science and general classrooms, and a conference center with a full kitchen. Furthermore, a new 3,600 SF addition expanded the building’s capacity, creating more space for innovation, collaboration, and student success.
To ensure a seamless transition, the construction team strategically divided the project into six phases. This phased approach kept the campus fully operational, allowing students and staff to continue using the space with minimal disruption. Smith Sinnett Architecture meticulously planned each phase to maintain efficient traffic flow in and around the building, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted learning environment.
From day one, the project embraced a CM/Design-Build approach, ensuring efficiency and cost control at every stage. The team expertly managed the budget and schedule through the Design Development, Construction Documents, and Guaranteed Maximum Price phases. As a result, construction stayed on track with minimal setbacks or rework. Most impressively, the project was completed an astonishing three million dollars under budget, demonstrating exceptional planning and execution.
