The Randolph County Board of Commissioners engaged Smith Sinnett to manage the demolition, design, and renovation of the Northgate retail shopping center. The former shopping center provides a new hub for multiple county offices that were in need of more spacious and efficient layouts. In addition to fully renovated interiors, the adaptive reuse includes exterior repairs and upgrades, ADA compliant design, and site revitalization.
The project was divided into multiple phases, with some already complete or near completion. The new government complex will house Randolph County’s Board of Elections, Adult Day Reporting Center, Probation and Parole offices, and other departments such as Child Services, Criminal Division, and the Department of Social Services. The improved site provides covered outdoor gathering areas and curb-side voting for convenience.
