Randolph County Government Complex – Adaptive Reuse of Northgate Shopping Center

The Randolph County Board of Commissioner hired Smith Sinnett Architecture to lead the demolition, design, and renovation of the former Northgate retail shopping center. The goal was to transform it into a modern and efficient government complex.

This adaptive reuse project brings together several Randolph County departments that needed more space and better layouts. The renovation included updated interiors, exterior repairs, ADA-compliant features, and full site upgrades.

The complex now includes covered outdoor gathering areas and curbside voting, making access easier for the public.

The project was divided into multiple phases. Several phases are already complete or close to completion. Once finished, the facility will house the Board of Elections, Adult Day Reporting Center, Probation and Parole offices, and other departments. These include Child Services, the Criminal Division, and the Department of Social Services.
