Carteret Community College celebrated the grand opening of its new Navigation Center on October 21 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by College leadership, students, staff, and representatives of the Carteret County Chamber of Commerce. Smith Sinnett Architecture is proud to have contributed to the transformation of the former McGee Building into a welcoming, student-centered destination designed to simplify access to essential campus services.
The renovated facility brings enrollment, financial aid, academic advising, tutoring, and other student support services together in one convenient location. By consolidating these resources, the Navigation Center creates a more streamlined experience for students and families, helping them connect with the guidance and assistance they need throughout their educational journey.
The project represents a significant investment in the College’s commitment to student success. What was once a traditional office environment has been reimagined as a bright, inviting space that encourages accessibility, connection, and collaboration.
During the celebration, Carteret Community College President Dr. Tracy Mancini emphasized the importance of making student services easier to navigate, while College representatives highlighted the project’s completion ahead of schedule and under budget.
For Smith Sinnett Architecture, the Navigation Center reflects the value of revitalizing existing educational facilities to better serve evolving institutional needs. Through thoughtful planning and renovation, existing spaces can be transformed into environments that enhance daily experiences and support long-term campus goals.
Congratulations to Carteret Community College and everyone involved in bringing the Navigation Center to life. We are honored to have played a role in creating a space that will support students and strengthen the College community for years to come.
